In life, it's difficult to monitor a cat's emotional changes. Their moods are unpredictable and seem impossible to judge by common sense. However, emotions in any living being are subtle internal sensations. They may not be easily revealed outwardly, but they are likely felt internally. Feelings arise from the heart. We have always been exploring the truest feelings of the human heart. So, turning to our pets, what can we do to make our cats happy?
1. Things that make cats happy
A recent survey conducted by the American scientific journal giant Scientific America on pet emotions found that cats, who may seem aloof and difficult to please, actually find happiness in the little things in life. The study identified five small things that make cats happy.
1. Rest in a warm place
Cats are naturally fond of warmth and love to snuggle close to the fireplace or their mother's lap—anything that makes them feel cozy. At home, you can place your cat near the fireplace, letting it greedily bask in the warmth, which will surely put it in a good mood. Of course, if you don't have a fireplace, you can place your cat's bed near a window. When the sunlight streams in and falls on it, it will feel endless happiness. Perhaps it's grooming itself contentedly in its bed, or perhaps it's lazily taking a nap. In short, seeing a lazy cat sprawled out in the sunlight—who wouldn't feel happy?
2. Play outdoors and explore nature
Most cats prefer the outdoors and love nature. The birdsong and fragrant flowers outside the window are paradise for them; it holds so many secrets for them, and being close to nature is their greatest desire. However, many owners believe the outdoor environment is too dangerous and poses a threat to their cats' safety, so they rarely take them out to play. If, with proper safety measures in place, such as leashing the cat, it will be very happy to explore nature, feel the gentle breeze, and enjoy the warm sunshine.
3. Talk to it.
Some cats are actually quite good at chatting! Siamese cats, for example, are a perfect example. Of course, other breeds of cats are also very good at chatting, and some even have their own unique forms of communication. When your cat meows or purrs at you in a happy tone, pay attention! They might be signaling to you, inviting you to chat. You can then mimic their sounds in response, starting your delightful conversation. This will not only strengthen your bond with your cat but also surprise and delight the cat, making it wonder, "Wow! My owner can chat with me now?"
4. Take it to a "spa".
Cats are known for their cleanliness; they frequently lick themselves to maintain their elegant appearance. Of course, as their owner, you also need to groom them regularly, occasionally giving them a spa treatment and a full range of care, from luxurious baths and fur grooming to nail trimming. During these processes, cats feel very relaxed, and they're in a wonderful mood afterward.
5. Play games with it.
Cats are agile and have keen hearing, making them excellent players. If you can spend time playing with them, they'll be very happy and content. As natural hunters, cats especially love chasing moving objects and playing with toys in their paws. They get incredibly excited when you play with a cat toy. This game not only helps them exercise but also strengthens your bond—and most importantly, it makes them very happy.
II. Items that make cats happy
1. The girl has all sorts of samples and hard fruit candies on her vanity table—she jumps onto the table, uses her claws to knock all the little bottles to the ground, and then jumps down to play happily with them.
2. The fluffy part of the cat toy makes you grab, bite, and jump continuously.
3. Plastic bags/cardboard boxes
4. Human feet and shoes (including untied shoelaces)
5. Human hair
6. Coral fleece blankets: Some sensitive cats' eyes light up as soon as they see one, and they jump on it and start kneading vigorously. As long as they are not sleeping, just pile a coral fleece blanket on the bay window, and they will immediately go up there and purr peacefully.
Happiness is a mutual feeling. When a cat is happy, we, as its owners, will naturally feel joy as well. If we want our cats to be happy, we should show them more care and attention.
