Deworming for cats is generally divided into internal and external deworming. Internal deworming is generally recommended every 3 months, but can be extended to every 6 months. External deworming is recommended every month, but for cats that are frequently indoors, it can be extended to every 3 months. Cats are constantly walking on the ground and licking their fur, so they inevitably ingest parasite eggs. Even indoor cats need regular internal and external deworming.
Commonly used internal deworming medications for cats include Milbemax, Bayer, and Advantage. For external deworming medications like Advantage and Frontline, it's crucial to follow the instructions carefully, especially for internal deworming. Internal deworming should only begin four hours after the cat has eaten, followed by a five-hour fast to ensure effectiveness. For external deworming, administer the prescribed dose of medication as directed, applying it to the cat's shoulder blade. However, closely monitor the cat's condition to prevent licking the medication. Do not bathe the cat for one week after deworming.
