British Shorthair Cat Feeding Tips (Part 1)
When feeding a British Shorthair, it's important to note that they have short noses, so the food bowl shouldn't be too deep. Canned food is best fed in a dish, and the bowl should be cleaned immediately after each meal. Feed them 2-3 small meals frequently throughout the day. Feed your cat one can of canned food per day. It's best not to mix dry food and canned food together. Remember to feed at the same time, in the same place, and in the same amount. Change the water daily. As for the type of cat food, I recommend a higher-end option, such as Royal Canin, which is beneficial for your cat's digestive system and oral hygiene.
British Shorthair Cat Feeding Tips Part Two
Properly storing your cat food is crucial. Cat food shouldn't be exposed to air for extended periods. Dry food should be stored in airtight containers; you can buy special airtight containers for cat food online, and these are essential. Leftover canned food also needs to be stored properly. First, seal it with a pet food can lid, then put it in an airtight container and refrigerate. Always reheat the food before feeding it again. Once opened, a can of food will only last for a maximum of two days, even in the refrigerator.British Shorthair Cat Feeding Tips (Part 3)
Nutritional Supplements: I also give my British Shorthair some nutritional supplements regularly, primarily hairball remedy. I also frequently feed him treats to groom his fur and clean his mouth, and give him vitamin supplements several times a month. Fresh Food: I strongly recommend feeding your British Shorthair fresh canned cat food. It has a much higher nutritional value than regular food. Pay extra attention to storage; canned food must be consumed within one day of opening, and cat food should be consumed within 7 days.
