Many people compare domestic cats with pet cats, but what are the differences between them? You'll only know once you own one. In fact, there are significant differences between domestic cats and mixed-breed cats, and I'm not kidding you.

“土猫”和“宠物猫”有哪些区别?

① Differences in price

Stray cats are usually very inexpensive, sometimes costing as little as a cup of milk tea. People acquire them in various ways, such as as gifts from friends, through adoption, or, if you're lucky, even by finding stray cats on the street.

Domesticated purebred cats are mostly bred and raised artificially, which involves transportation and labor costs, resulting in generally higher prices. Obtaining a purebred cat with a pedigree certificate may cost several thousand yuan, and even cheaper purebred cats are much more expensive than domestic cats.

② Differences in survival ability

Native cats often retain some wildness because they are a naturally bred breed and can adapt well to various environments, even surviving as strays.

Conversely, most domesticated cats are raised in captivity, experience less hardship, and know little about the dangers of the world. Once they become stray cats, their lifespan may not be long.

③ Differences in appearance

Because of genetic hybridization, the appearance of mixed-breed cats is not very stable. They may be very beautiful or they may be plain-looking. Just like the randomness of blind boxes, they may not be able to meet people's aesthetic needs.

Purebred cats, on the other hand, are specially bred to meet the public's aesthetic standards. Their appearance and temperament are relatively stable, and they usually look quite beautiful, with almost no individuals having poor appearances.

④ Differences in personality

Due to the influence of their living environment, domestic cats are often wary and difficult to approach, and may need a long time to adapt to humans; some may even attack people.

Domestic cats, having undergone a long period of domestication and selection, typically have more stable and docile personalities and are more inclined to be close to humans.

⑤ Differences in physical constitution

Native cats are usually bred by crossbreeding with various cat breeds, which helps avoid certain genetic diseases. They are generally more robust, less prone to illness, and have a relatively longer lifespan.

In contrast, purebred cats often undergo inbreeding to maintain their bloodline purity, which can lead to genetic diseases and health problems. Therefore, pet owners should choose nutritionally rich cat food as their cat's main diet to enhance their physical condition and health.
