Do not use saline solution to clean a cat's ears. While saline solution has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, it can irritate a kitten's ears and cause discomfort. It is recommended to use pet-specific ear cleaner for cats. If a cat's ears are healthy, they do not need frequent cleaning. If the cat's ears are oily or have dirt or grime, you can use a cotton swab dipped in a little water to gently wipe them clean. 
Steps to clean a cat's ears:
