Effective treatments for hairballs:
1. Brush your cat regularly so that it doesn't ingest too much loose fur when it grooms itself;
2. Always keep cat grass on hand. Cats will eat cat grass when they have an upset stomach, or you can feed your cat cat grass as needed.
3. Give your cat hairball remedy, usually twice a week, to help them expel hairballs regularly.
4. Induce vomiting with oral cod liver oil: When hairballs accumulate in a cat's body and cannot be expelled on their own, a small amount of oral cod liver oil can be given to help induce vomiting. 
Symptoms of hairballs in cats:
1. Cats with hairballs will have rough, dull fur.
2. The cat vomits frequently, and there is hair in the vomit.
3. After hair accumulates in a cat's intestines for a period of time, its belly will become bloated.
4. It is difficult to defecate, and the excrement is hairy.
5. When hairballs are severe, cats will lose their appetite and become lethargic.
