Reasons why cats lick their fur:
1. Cats lick their fur to remove dirt and grime, keeping their bodies clean for longer. Licking also helps keep their fur smooth and prevents clumps.
2. Licking their fur can also help cats relieve stress. For example, after being scolded by their owners, they will quietly lick their fur. This is a calming and distracting behavior, and it's one of the most common stress-relief methods for cats.
3. Cats licking their fur in the summer also helps them cool down. Simply put, the fur that a cat licks will have some saliva on it, and the evaporating saliva will take away some of the heat from the cat's body, thus achieving the purpose of cooling down.
4. Pet cats lick their fur in winter to keep warm.
Cat grooming:
1. Cat combs are divided into face combs and body combs. When combing the cat's face, be gentle and slow. Try not to comb from head to tail in one go. When you encounter knots, hold the roots of the fur with your hand before continuing to comb.
2. Brushing your cat's fur with a soft brush can prevent shedding, promote blood circulation, and make the fur shinier. Long-haired cats need to be brushed daily, otherwise their fur will easily become matted, while short-haired cats do not need to be brushed.
3. To make the fur smoother, hold the brush perpendicular to your body and comb the entire body. Brush with the direction of fur growth, making sure to brush small areas such as the tail and paws. Brushing against the direction of fur growth can remove stubborn dirt.
