How to get your cat to drink water:
1. Use multiple water bowls and place them in different locations. Some cats are picky about the material, color, and depth of their water bowls. You can use ceramic, glass, plastic, and water bowls of different styles to cater to their preferences and encourage them to drink more water. Moreover, cats are naturally curious and love to explore. Placing the water bowls near the sink, kitchen cabinets, etc., can encourage cats to explore and remind them to drink water.
2. Pet owners should provide their cats with enough clean water. Cats are naturally very clean animals and have high requirements for the cleanliness of their water. If there is hair, dust, or the smell of spoiled food scraps in the water bowl, the cat will refuse to drink.
3. Adding catnip or other flavors that kittens like to the water can make the water taste better and make kittens want to drink more water.
4. Add some warm water to the kitten's food so that the kitten can eat food and drink water at the same time.
The effects of dehydration on cats:
1. It can easily lead to urinary tract diseases in cats, including cystitis, urethritis, bladder stones, kidney disease, etc.
2. It can easily lead to hard, dry feces in cats, causing difficulty in defecation, constipation, or even megacolon.
3. In summer, cats drink less water and are prone to heatstroke. If a cat accidentally suffers from heatstroke, move it to a cool, well-ventilated place, wipe its body with a damp towel, and give it water to drink to relieve dehydration symptoms.
