Cats should ideally have their teeth brushed 2-3 times a week. If they don't eat much meat and their teeth aren't very dirty, once a week is sufficient. Always use a pet-specific toothbrush and toothpaste; never use human toothpaste on your cat to prevent poisoning. Regular brushing can effectively prevent oral diseases in cats.
Precautions for brushing a cat's teeth:
1. Trim your cat's nails before brushing its teeth to prevent it from struggling and scratching you if it doesn't like brushing.
2. If your cat doesn't like a regular toothbrush, you can try using a glove-shaped brush head, a finger-type brush head, or a 360-degree brush head. The main thing is to avoid using human toothbrushes, as they are too hard and can damage your cat's mouth.
3. If your cat doesn't cooperate with brushing its teeth, you can reward it with a small treat. This reward mechanism will make your cat more interested in brushing its teeth. When brushing its teeth, you should also adopt a comfortable posture, such as sitting or lying on its side.
4. You can use products that help clean your cat's mouth, such as dental cleaning solution, dental powder, etc.
