Cats can eat oatmeal. Oatmeal contains a lot of dietary fiber, which helps with digestion and can also improve a cat's appetite. However, human oatmeal may contain some additives and sugar, and it is nutritionally unbalanced and cannot meet a cat's nutritional needs. It is best to feed cats oatmeal sparingly. 
Precautions for feeding oatmeal to cats:
1. Feed in small amounts. Too much oatmeal can overload a cat's digestive system, leading to discomfort, vomiting, or diarrhea.
2. Avoid cooking oatmeal with milk. Many cats are lactose intolerant and lack the enzyme needed to digest milk. Oatmeal for cats should only be cooked in water.
3. Nutritional balance. Oatmeal alone cannot meet the nutritional needs of a cat's daily life and growth. Other staple foods, such as fish or cat food, should be given alongside oatmeal.
