Most cat owners rarely use canned cat food as their cat's main diet because their primary concern is its nutritional value. However, canned pet food is actually divided into main meal canned food and treat canned food. Does this mean that canned cat food can be fed as a main meal? 
From a purely nutritional standpoint, canned cat food might meet a cat's nutritional needs. However, we need to consider more than just nutrition; the cat's oral health and the long-term effects of consuming it are also factors we need to take into account.
Canned cat food typically contains a relatively high amount of meat. A major difference between canned and kibble is the texture; canned food, being softer, tends to stick to teeth and easily gets stuck between a cat's teeth. Some owners may not pay attention to their cat's oral health, or they may have tried to clean their cat's mouth, but the cat is uncooperative and may even bite, leaving the effort unresolved.
We might not see any major problems in the short term, but prolonged neglect can lead to tartar buildup. Food residue stuck in a cat's teeth can ferment and cause gum inflammation, leading to other oral health issues. Bad breath is also a common problem, and cats' teeth need proper wear and tear, but canned food doesn't provide any of that.
Therefore, we can feed them staple cat food for a period of time, but we should try not to feed them it as their main food.
