Six potential risks of sleeping with your cat
1. Impaired sleep quality: Cats need about 18 hours of sleep a day, but their sleep cycles are short and frequent. This can cause them to leave and return while their owners are sleeping, disturbing their deep sleep.
2. Risk of bacterial transmission: Cats walk and rest on the ground, and their fur may carry dust and bacteria. If not cleaned regularly, these contaminants can stain bedding.
3. Hygiene issues: Cats' paws may harbor dirt, and if they bring this dirt onto the bed, it can cause discomfort.
4. Shedding: Shedding is common in cats. Excessive hair can cause respiratory problems or even allergic reactions in humans.
5. Disease transmission: If a cat has ringworm or other fungal infections, these diseases can be transmitted to humans.
6. Safety concerns: Because cats are small, sleeping humans may unconsciously roll over and roll onto them, which could be dangerous for them.
