Cats you take in may carry parasites and infectious diseases, including toxoplasmosis, fleas, lice, ticks, rabies, and cat scratch fever, all of which can be transmitted to humans and threaten the health of their owners. Secondly, stray cats are generally wary of people and can be aggressive, so bringing one home could result in scratches or bites.



Finally, many stray cats are accustomed to the wild and feel insecure living with humans. Being confined to rooms or cages for extended periods can lead to irritability, depression, and a desire to run away. However, if a rescued cat is friendly, it's not entirely unsuitable to keep as a pet. It's just advisable to take it to a veterinary clinic for a checkup before bringing it home, and to keep it in a cage temporarily until it has been dewormed and vaccinated before allowing it to roam freely.
