Whether long-haired or short-haired, cats are covered in fur, which is their coat and the first impression they give. However, we often see cats with their fur shaved off on the street. The benefits of shaving a cat include reducing shedding and saving owners the trouble of grooming their cats all day. In summer, it can also help cool the cat down and prevent heatstroke. 
However, shaving a cat's fur also has its downsides. In the summer, without the protection of its fur, cats are more susceptible to mosquito bites, and their exposed skin is more easily sunburned. In the winter, shaved cats become more sensitive to the cold and are more prone to catching a chill and getting sick.
Most importantly, cats are very concerned about their fur. When a cat has just been shaved, it may become unhappy and lose its appetite because it feels it's no longer beautiful. They may struggle to accept themselves after being shaved, feeling inferior and different from other cats. This inferiority complex requires comfort and reassurance from their owner; otherwise, it can cause serious psychological harm to the cat.
