How are cats transported home from other places?

If you want to transport your cat from another city back home, you can choose a dedicated transportation service, such as by plane, train, or bus.

1. Air transport

This method of transportation is relatively expensive. Pets need to be transported in airline crates, not metal cages. Owners must bring sufficient food and water, and also provide health and quarantine certificates for their pets; otherwise, they will not be allowed to board the plane.

You can book suitable cabins in advance to arrive as early as possible. Prepare sedatives according to your pet's mood to prevent your dog from becoming emotionally unstable, experiencing motion sickness, fear, or other symptoms of maladjustment. Avoid connecting flights.

2. Railway transportation

Rail transport also requires a quarantine certificate. The cost is slightly lower than air transport. Owners should try to travel with their pets. Calm your pet and prepare plenty of food and water.

3. Passenger bus transportation

Passenger transport is relatively convenient and cheaper. It's suitable for short-distance deliveries. Try to avoid changing vehicles midway. You can tell the driver the destination, the recipient's name and contact information beforehand, and ensure a smooth handover with the recipient. Inform the driver of any precautions to prevent the pet from barking excessively or becoming uncomfortable.

4. Logistics and shipping

Logistics and shipping costs are not high, and it's relatively hassle-free for owners, but the pets can experience a bumpy ride due to the frequent changes in stops along the way. Some specialized shipping companies handle the shipping; payment is made in advance, and the recipient simply picks up the pet from the shipping department upon arrival at the destination.

Important notes for pet transportation:

1. Prepare appropriate cages or carriers according to the size of your pet. The cage or carrier should be large enough for the pet to stand up and move around. Lying down for too long without moving can impede blood circulation and easily lead to sudden death. It is also very important that the cage is well-ventilated.

2. Do not feed your pet food 4 hours before shipping, but you can give it water during this period.

3. When checking your pet in, choose a stable and safe position. If your pet gets carsick, you can give it motion sickness medication. Some pets are prone to stress, so it is not recommended to use anti-stress medication. You can choose to check your pet in a safe airline crate.

4. Do not feed your pet after it arrives at the new location. Allow the dog to acclimatize for at least 4 hours before feeding it. You can give it a small amount of water or sugar water.
