Cats should not drink coffee. Coffee contains caffeine, which has both stimulating and depressant effects on the central nervous system. Too much caffeine can cause neurological and cardiovascular abnormalities in cats. Cats should not eat salt. Cats only need 0.4g of salt per day. Excessive salt intake will increase tear production and worsen tear stains. Large amounts will overburden the cat's kidneys, potentially leading to kidney failure and death. Cats should not drink alcohol. Cats cannot metabolize alcohol. Ingesting alcohol can cause alcohol poisoning. Alcohol contains various acids, including lactic acid, malic acid, and gluconic acid. Cats with alcohol poisoning will be confused and unsteady on their feet. The acids disrupt the cat's endocrine system, affecting the normal function of many organs and leading to diseases such as kidney failure.
