What medication is best for treating internal parasites in cats?
There are many types of internal deworming medications for cats, but it is generally recommended to use those containing ingredients such as milbemime. Milbemime is generally considered safer than other internal deworming medications and can be used on younger or lighter cats. Furthermore, compared to other deworming medications, milbemime is less irritating to the cat's gastrointestinal tract and less likely to cause digestive problems.
Deworming medications containing milbemime are widely available. However, as they are classified as medicine, it's generally not recommended to purchase them online to avoid buying counterfeit or substandard products. Cats need regular internal deworming. Depending on age, kittens under 12 months should be dewormed monthly, while kittens over 12 months should be dewormed every 2-3 months. In addition, cats also need regular external deworming treatments.
