What procedures are required to bring a cat on a high-speed train?
Cats are not allowed on high-speed trains. Chinese railway authorities have explicitly prohibited cats from traveling on high-speed trains. Therefore, if the owner is traveling by high-speed rail, the cat must be transported as a pet. You will need to apply for a health certificate, quarantine certificate, etc. You will also need to prepare a cat carrier and cat bag to transport your cat. At least one week in advance, take your cat to a nearby veterinary clinic to get its rabies vaccination and feline triple vaccine, and obtain a vaccination certificate (this step is unnecessary if you already have one).
One or two days in advance, no more than two days in advance, take your pet cat and vaccination certificate to a nearby veterinary station (one that is recognized by the railway department) for a physical examination, obtain a health certificate, and then use the health certificate to exchange for a pet cat exit quarantine certificate.
One day in advance, take your pet cat to the railway veterinary station (animal quarantine station) to get it stamped.
For the high-speed train on the same day, arrive 2-3 hours early, bringing your pet cat in a special airline-approved carrier (a homemade iron cage is acceptable, but cardboard boxes and other containers are not allowed). Go to the freight forwarding station at the high-speed rail station to complete the shipping procedures. If all the previous paperwork is complete, the process is very simple: just show the immunization certificate, exit quarantine certificate, and your train ticket for the day, then fill out a form, have your cat weighed, and pay the fee.
After obtaining the necessary permits, you cannot leave. You must stay with your pet cat until you enter the freight car together and settle the pet in. Of course, you can return to your own carriage to sit down.
After getting off at your destination station, go to the station where you arrived and pick up your cat using the delivery slip. Please note that you should not feed your cat within four hours before leaving home; it's really making the cat suffer. However, you can give your cat some sedative medication just before boarding the train.
The "Railway Passenger Transport Regulations" clearly state that animals are not allowed inside passenger trains. Therefore, pets are not permitted on high-speed trains, bullet trains, or regular trains. Pets can only be transported as cargo. Before transporting a pet, a vaccination certificate must be obtained, relevant procedures must be completed, and a carrier for the cat, along with food and water, must be prepared.
Legal basis:
Article 43 of the "Railway Passenger Transport Management Rules" stipulates that when transporting large quantities of baggage, the passenger dispatch center should be notified in advance to reserve baggage car capacity or organize full-carload transportation. During holidays and festivals, for the transportation of students, new and veteran soldiers, and large regional conferences, the station may send personnel to handle the transportation on-site, or set up a special counter to handle group baggage.
