The two main types of lice that cats are susceptible to are canine lice and canine mandibular lice. Canine lice are short and wide, about 2 mm long, and yellow with black spots. Canine mandibular lice have a conical body and are 1.5 to 2 mm long.
Symptoms of cat fleas Parasites infest a cat's skin, causing itching and restlessness, leading to hair loss, and secondary eczema, papules, blisters, pustules, etc. In severe cases, it can cause poor appetite, affect sleep, and lead to malnutrition and decreased immunity.
1. Eliminate lice from underwear and bed sheets. You can boil these items in water for about 10 minutes. If the clothing (such as wool clothing) is not resistant to heat and moisture, you can also dry clean it.
2. Eliminate lice from hair. Shave off all infested hair and thoroughly wash the skin to completely remove the lice. When using medication to kill lice from hair, choose a highly effective and low-toxicity drug. A lice-killing solution can be prepared by mixing 1 gram of permethrin, 10 ml of ethanol (alcohol), and 90 ml of neutral shampoo. When lice are infested, dilute the solution 100 times with water, take 30-50 ml of the diluted solution, soak the hair in it, and wash it clean with water after half an hour. Repeat this for 3 consecutive days. Alternatively, you can first wash your hair with a 10% decoction of Stemona japonica, then wrap your hair overnight with a towel soaked in the solution, and wash it clean with water the next morning. You can also apply a 25% ethanol (alcohol) solution of Stemona japonica to your hair twice a week for noticeable results. Vinegar can dissolve the sticky substance on lice eggs. If there are still lice eggs on your hair, you can apply 20-40 ml of vinegar to your hair. The next day, comb your hair with a fine-toothed comb to remove the lice eggs, then wash your hair with clean water. For pubic lice, you can apply a 25% ethanol (alcohol) solution of Sophora flavescens, or a mixture of 10% acetic acid solution and an equal amount of kerosene. (Pre-mixed medications are available commercially.)
3. To eliminate lice on clothes, bedding, straw mats, and straw cushions, you can mix 4 ml of 50% dichlorvos emulsion with 500 ml of water and spray it on the affected areas. Alternatively, you can use a brush to apply 4 ml of 50% dichlorvos emulsion to the infested clothes and bedding, drawing lines 10 cm (3 inches) apart. Then roll up or fold the clothes and bedding and leave them for 2 hours to kill the lice.
