Ragdoll cats under one year old should be dewormed every three months, and Ragdoll cats over one year old should be dewormed every six months. If the cat is semi-free-range or frequently taken outside, the deworming frequency should be increased. In addition, the home environment should be kept clean and dewormed. The cat's bed should be disinfected and sun-dried regularly.
How to deworm a Ragdoll cat
1. Kneel down behind the cat, with its back to you and facing forward. Place your left hand under its throat, and with your right hand, hold the medication and grasp its neck. Use your left thumb and forefinger to apply pressure to the corners of its mouth. When the cat opens its mouth, drop the medication into its mouth, trying to drop it as deep as possible. Make it close its mouth and massage its throat downwards, keeping its mouth closed throughout the process, until you see it swallow the medication.
2. When hiding medication in your cat's favorite food, be sure to consult your veterinarian beforehand about which foods are incompatible with medication.
3. Use a medicine feeder to administer the medicine (avoid the head of the feeder being accidentally swallowed by the cat), or use hemostatic forceps to administer the medicine. Alternatively, you can dissolve the medicine in water and administer it with a syringe.
4. For external parasite treatment, you need to part the cat's fur and drop the medicine on a place that the cat cannot lick. Wait for the medicine to penetrate before loosening the fur.
