The purpose of a cat's whiskers:
1. Ability to judge the width of a passage. A cat's whiskers have an auxiliary function in judging the width of a passage. A cat's whiskers grow next to its mouth, and the width of the cat's whiskers is the same as the width of its body.
2. Determining the location of a target object. A cat's whiskers have an excellent sense of touch, allowing it to perceive changes in the surrounding airflow and humidity. Once the whiskers touch something, the cat can roughly determine the structure of its surroundings, making it easy for the cat to approach the target object.
3. Mood Signals. A cat's whiskers are also an important indicator of its mood. For example, if a cat's whiskers hang loosely on both sides, looking very relaxed, then the cat is definitely in a great mood. If a cat is angry or frightened by something, its whiskers will stick to its face. 
Important notes about cat whiskers:
1. Cats don't like things stuck to their whiskers. So when bathing your cat, try to use a larger water basin and avoid getting water on their whiskers.
2. Never trim a cat's whiskers. It's normal for a cat's whiskers to fall out naturally. Cutting them can negatively impact a cat's daily life.
3. Repeatedly cutting a cat's whiskers can have a significant psychological impact on the cat.
