When should kittens receive their first vaccination?
Kittens should generally be 9-10 weeks old or older before they can be vaccinated. Kittens younger than 9 weeks old still have antibodies from their mother's milk, and if vaccinated at this time, the vaccine and antibodies will interact, rendering the vaccine ineffective.
Feline triple vaccine: The first vaccination can be given at 9 weeks of age; the second booster dose is given 21 days later; the third final dose and rabies vaccine are given 21 days later. Booster immunizations are given annually, as is the rabies booster.
