Many owners know that cats are picky eaters, so for some picky kittens, owners often give them canned cat food to supplement their nutrition. However, many people say that canned cat food isn't as good as it seems, and for kittens, it should never be fed as a staple food. Why is that? 
Actually, canned cat food is not recommended for kittens under four months old. If you must feed them canned food, it's suggested to mix a small amount of it with rice before feeding it to them. Canned cat food is high in energy and protein, much like a large meal people eat during the Spring Festival; feeding it directly to them every time may cause indigestion. Carbohydrates like rice are beneficial for a cat's growth.
It's important to note that feeding kittens under three months old canned food or just meat can easily cause indigestion. Their digestive organs are very delicate and lack many digestive enzymes, so poor digestion can lead to diarrhea. You can give them some lactase to regulate their gastrointestinal function (it's best to keep lactase on hand).
