Dry food or wet food? That is the question. Many people are unsure of their cat's temperament and struggle with this issue. Actually, both dry and wet food have their advantages and disadvantages. The best approach is to feed them primarily dry food, supplemented with wet food. This not only ensures good nutrition but also makes the cat happy with its meals. 
Dry food, usually packaged cat food, is a kibble-like, dry food. Its main ingredient is grains, with added meat and other nutrients cats need. Dry food is easy to store and costs about half the price of wet food, making it a popular choice for cats. It offers a variety of flavors, provides all the necessary nutrients, and most importantly, helps cats grind their teeth and clean their mouths. However, dry food also has drawbacks. Unlike dogs, cats are carnivores, so the grains in dry food aren't what they need. Also, cats don't drink much water, and the low moisture content of dry food can easily lead to urinary tract infections.
Wet food typically consists mainly of animal-based ingredients, commonly known as canned food and wet food pouches. As carnivores, cats obviously prefer this type of food. Furthermore, wet food has a very high water content, usually 78%, compared to only 10% for dry food. Therefore, it helps cats stay hydrated while eating, a win-win situation! However, not all wet food is suitable as a staple food for long-term, large-scale feeding. Wet food is bad for cats' teeth, easily leading to plaque buildup, periodontitis, and other oral diseases. Also, if cats eat too much wet food, they may become picky eaters.
So, having analyzed the pros and cons of dry and wet food, we can conclude that a combination of both is best, with dry food as the primary source and wet food as a supplement. This ensures healthy teeth, provides hydration, and reduces picky eating habits in cats.
