As wondrous creatures, cats often do things that seem strange and incomprehensible to us. For example, cats sleep on various electrical appliances, using televisions and computers as their beds. Why is that?
Cats not only enjoy curling up in boxes, but also like sitting near electronic devices such as televisions and computers. This is because these places are warmer, and the images on the screens are captivating. While the images on a cat's screen certainly aren't as precise as what a human sees, the moving images satisfy their innate curiosity.
Another reason is that it wants your attention, especially when you're staring at electronic devices and ignoring it. At that moment, the cat desperately needs companionship and care. To find out if it really loves watching TV, walk away from it while it's watching. If it's still engrossed in watching on its own, then it really does love watching TV.
Cats' love of lying on computer screens, especially when their owners are playing games, can be incredibly frustrating for them. Here are a few reasons why cats love lying on keyboards:
The first reason is the temperature of the keyboard. Cats have a higher average body temperature than humans, around 38-39 degrees Celsius. Because of this higher average body temperature, they are more sensitive to cold than humans. Furthermore, they are not good at regulating their body temperature, so they like to find warm places to rub against.
The second reason is probably that they want their owner's attention. If the cat was raised from a very young age, it's more dependent on its owner and lacks independence. A cat that learns to get attention from its owner as soon as it sits on the keyboard might be jumping up with the mentality of "Stop playing on the computer, look at me!" Wanting attention and bothering its owner like that is just adorable, a true king of affection! So go ahead and pet it without hesitation!
Another reason is that the "fingers" used for typing look like toys. Cats are creatures particularly sensitive to moving objects and clicking sounds. The movement and sound of fingers while typing may trigger a cat's hunting instincts. Those cats that immediately pounce on the keyboard—don't they get enough playtime? Try playing with them more with toys like those with bells and cat wands!
Actually, these behaviors in cats are determined by their genes, or you could say they're their instincts. These deeply ingrained instincts lead to their many peculiar interests. So owners shouldn't be surprised!
