Munchkin cats, also known as short-legged cats, are born with short legs; this is not a result of stunted growth caused by disease or health problems.
Short-legged cats are excellent climbers, jumpers, and runners; their short legs don't hinder their agility at all. They are also friendly and intelligent, quickly learning tricks.
Like a child who never grows up, it retains the innocent and lively characteristics of a kitten throughout its life. Short-legged cats are perfect for people who wish their cats would never grow up. They are gentle, affectionate, love human companionship, and get along well with other animals. They enjoy being around people and playing, and are very affectionate of being held in someone's arms; their short legs make holding them feel like cradling a baby.
Short-legged cats have very short limbs. Some short-legged cats with shorter front legs and longer hind legs are considered to have defects and are not a desirable breed. Short-legged cats are medium-sized cats, very suitable for family life, and their fur does not require special care and they do not shed much.
