Snowshoe cats are a short-haired breed that combines Siamese color variations with a white V-shaped mask and snow-white paws. They are large cats, with some males weighing over 5 kilograms. Newborn Snowshoe kittens are entirely white, and their markings only appear after about two years. Originally based on Siamese coat colors, Snowshoes have since been bred to have various other colors.

The Snowshoe cat was developed in 1960 by Americans who crossed Siamese and bicolor American Shorthair cats. Many enthusiastic breeders create new breeds every year, and the Snowshoe is one such new breed developed in the United States. Its snow-white paws are a captivating feature.
【Shape】
Snowshoe cats are muscular and large, a trait inherited from their American Shorthair lineage. Their body length, however, shows characteristics of Siamese cats. Males are often significantly larger than females, weighing up to 5.4 kg.
[Appearance Features]
Head: Shaped as a slightly rounded triangle, with a nose of moderate length.
Ears: Medium to large, wide at the base, with a slightly rounded tip. Sparse downy hair inside the ear.
Eyes: Quite large, oval-shaped, chestnut-shaped, with slightly upturned corners. The distance between the eyes is the width of one eye. Color: Blue, the darker the better.
Nose: of moderate length.
Limbs: of moderate length.
Paws: The paws are of moderate size, round in shape, like those of a Burmese cat, and the tips of the paws are also white.
Tail: Length is proportional to the body. Moderately thick at the base, tapering gradually to the tip.

Coat: Short, thick, glossy, lying flat on the body surface. Slightly undercoat.
Coat color: dark brown, blue, chocolate, and lilac. The extremities should contrast sharply with the body color, which should be lighter. Eyes should be blue. There should be an inverted V-shaped marking on the forehead and white markings on the paws. Ideally, the paws should have four evenly spaced mittens. The nose should be white, without any pigmentation, and brightly colored, or multicolored.

Extremely lively and strong-willed, an excellent hunter. Sociable and gets along well with other cats and dogs. Playful and a great companion to children. Gentle and very affectionate towards its owner. Less domineering than a Siamese cat.
