Core vaccines are mandatory for all cats, while non-core vaccines are optional depending on the cat's specific situation and living environment. Core vaccines primarily include the feline triple vaccine and the rabies vaccine. The feline triple vaccine prevents feline panleukopenia, feline calicivirus, and feline rhinotracheitis, three diseases that pose a serious threat to a cat's health. Generally, kittens receive their first dose of the feline triple vaccine at 6-8 weeks of age, followed by second and third doses every 2-4 weeks. After completing the three-dose series, a booster vaccination is required annually.

In addition to core vaccines, there are some non-core vaccines that can be selected based on the cat's individual circumstances. For example, feline leukemia virus vaccine and feline immunodeficiency virus vaccine. Whether or not to administer these vaccines depends primarily on the cat's living environment, contact with other pets, and the veterinarian's advice.
