An adult cat can eat about 4.5 pounds of cat food per month, which is about 75g per day, divided into two feedings. This may be increased slightly when the cat is pregnant, sick, or has a high level of activity. Since each cat's appetite is different, the amount of food given will vary. Owners can check if their cat is full by touching its belly and adjust the amount accordingly.
You can determine how much food to give an adult cat by touching its abdomen.
Method of determination:
a. A full belly in a cat indicates that the food portion is just right;
b. A cat's belly is a little flat, which means it hasn't eaten enough.
c. If a cat's abdomen is severely distended, it means the cat has eaten too much. Based on the palpation, adjust the cat's future diet accordingly.
