Newborn kittens often don't know how to nurse. Owners can help them by placing the kitten next to its mother and letting it latch onto the mother's nipple. While gently squeezing the mother's nipple, the owner can encourage the milk to flow. Once the kitten tastes the milk, it will usually start suckling and gradually learn to nurse on its own.

If you still can't learn, you can try feeding with a bottle. The size of the hole in the nipple is very important. You'll need to cut a hole yourself, the size of which is so that when you turn the bottle upside down, you can only drip one drop of milk at a time. If the hole is too big, the milk will flow out and be inhaled into the kitten's lungs when it breathes.
