How to deal with a cat's shedding season
1. Brush the cat's fur.
It's best to start brushing your cat's fur from when they're kittens. This reduces shedding, as most of the fur is removed during the brushing process. Many cats also enjoy being brushed, so it can also strengthen the bond between you and your feline companion.
2. Clean frequently
Regardless of whether your cat is shedding or not, there will always be cat hair in your home. Cats usually shed to adapt to seasonal changes, so owners should pay extra attention to indoor cleaning during spring and autumn.
3. Strengthen nutrition
Cats shed a lot of hair when their immune system is weakened. Strengthening a cat's constitution can also help reduce the amount of hair shedding.
4. Take a bath regularly.
During a cat's molting season, bathing will remove a lot of shed cat hair. However, there are some things to keep in mind when bathing your cat. First, you should use a special pet shampoo for your cat. This is because cats have neutral skin, while human shampoos and body washes are mostly alkaline, which can be very damaging to a cat's skin and fur.
Cat's molting schedule
1. Generally, this occurs twice a year, mainly in spring and autumn. During seasonal changes, both long-haired and short-haired cats need to adapt to temperature changes, which leads to a self-regulating response, or what we call shedding.
2. Before summer arrives, cats will shed their thick, warm winter fur to prepare for the hot summer weather. Before winter arrives, cats will grow back a thick coat of fur for warmth.
