Solutions for cats with watery eyes and discharge:
1. If your cat is experiencing excessive tearing, you should first take it to the vet for diagnosis and treatment. After determining the cause of the tearing, appropriate treatment can be administered.
2. You can also use cotton pads moistened with pet-specific eye drops to wipe around your cat's eyes to clean away any secretions. Check several times a day to ensure a clean eye environment. Wash your hands with soap before handling your cat. Alternatively, you can use a cotton ball dipped in saline solution to gently wipe around your cat's eyes from the inner corner to the outer corner to remove any secretions.
3. After cleaning the cat's eyes, apply eye drops or aureomycin eye ointment to the corners of the cat's eyes. Hold the cat's head with your hand to prevent the eye drops from flowing out too quickly.
4. To prevent cats from scratching their eyes due to discomfort, they need to wear an Elizabethan collar to prevent infection caused by improper behavior.
Reasons for tearing and discharge in cats' eyes:
1. If cats eat heavily seasoned and greasy food for a long time, their bodies will not be able to handle it. After consuming too much salt, cats will have eye problems, such as tearing and increased secretions.
2. If there are foreign objects in the cat's eyes, such as dust and hair, it may cause the cat's eyes to tear up. Usually, no medication is needed in this case; simply removing the foreign object from the cat's eye will cure the problem.
3. If a cat's eyelashes are too long, the long-term stimulation of the cat's eyes by the growth of the eyelashes can cause the cat to tear up and have secretions. In severe cases, tearing may occur in the fundus of the eye.
