Peter the Bald Cat's Temperament:
Peter Bald cats love to scratch; scratching is a cat's nature, and it's impossible to stop them. Moreover, their claws are their most powerful weapons, and they must be constantly worn down to remove dead skin cells, making them incredibly sharp. The sweat glands on a cat's paws secrete a scent that remains when it scratches furniture or walls, much like how dogs mark their territory with urine; cats also need to establish their own territories within the home.
Nevertheless, if cats are allowed to scratch indiscriminately, sofas, curtains, chairs, carpets, wooden floors, wallpaper, and other furniture in the home will become terribly damaged. Moreover, once a cat identifies a scratching spot, it will repeatedly return to that location, leading to even greater damage. Therefore, responsible cat owners should begin training their cats to develop good scratching habits as early as possible, before the furniture is ruined.
