Cats can eat fruit, but not all fruits are safe; some are toxic to cats. Oranges, tangerines, and grapefruits are acidic fruits and should not be given to cats. Long-term consumption can lead to cell necrosis and vomiting. Certain components in grapes can cause cats to vomit repeatedly, and star fruit has a high potassium content, which can cause acute kidney failure in cats. These fruits are not suitable for cats. Before feeding your cat fruit, do your research, and never give them too much.
Foods that cats cannot eat:
1. Green onions, onions, and leeks. These foods contain a component that can damage a cat's red blood cells, causing symptoms such as anemia, diarrhea, hematuria, vomiting, and fever.
2. Chocolate. Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, and excessive intake can cause acute poisoning in cats.
3. Avocado. Avocados contain a chemical toxin that is very harmful to cats, causing digestive problems, breathing difficulties, high fever, and in large quantities, it can lead to death in cats.
4. Pickled foods. Salted fish and cured meats have a very high salt content, and since cats don't usually drink much water, feeding them these foods can easily lead to sodium poisoning.
5. Xylitol. Xylitol can cause seizures in cats and liver failure within about a day of poisoning.
