Things to note when keeping cats and dogs together:
1. Get to know each other's scent. When a cat and dog start living together, keep the dog on a leash and at a certain distance from the cat. Once they are familiar with each other's scent, you can let the dog go.
2. Provide separate cages for cats and dogs, and separate their living areas. Cats and dogs are territorial, so when keeping cats and dogs at the same time, it is best to separate their living areas and not place their cages next to each other.
3. Keep their food bowls strictly separate to prevent them from eating the same food as each other. Cat food and dog food have different nutritional components, so they should not be mixed. Their food bowls should be kept separate to prevent them from eating the same food. When feeding your cat or dog treats, also distinguish which treats are suitable for both cats and dogs and which are specifically for cats or dogs.
4. Avoid showing favoritism. Some owners may excessively pamper or favor one of their cats or dogs, which can cause the unfavored pet to feel neglected and isolated. In addition to feeling jealous, this can also lead to aggressive behavior.
5. Avoid leaving the house unattended. When dogs and cats are not yet familiar with each other, avoid leaving them alone at home. Since they haven't established a friendly relationship, aggressive behavior is possible, and one of them will inevitably get hurt.
6. Spend more time with your existing pet. New pets often pose a threat to the status of existing pets, and in such situations, the owner should spend more time with the existing pet to make it feel irreplaceable. This will help it accept the newcomer more readily.
