Cats should not eat pomegranates unless the owner removes all the seeds. Otherwise, it can cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, and even gastroenteritis in cats. Unlike humans, cats don't spit out the pomegranate seeds. Pomegranate seeds contain toxic cyanide, and when cats chew them, the toxic substances dissolve in their stomach acid, leading to diarrhea, abdominal pain, gastroenteritis, and in severe cases, death.
Other foods that cats cannot eat:
1. Cow's milk: Many cats are lactose intolerant, and drinking cow's milk can easily cause vomiting and diarrhea. Goat milk powder can also supplement nutrition, and additive-free yogurt can also be given to cats and can promote gastrointestinal digestion.
2. Alcoholic beverages. Excessive ethanol intake can damage a cat's brain and body cells, causing vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, and neurological abnormalities.
3. Coffee and chocolate. Theobromine and caffeine can poison cats.
4. Grapes can easily cause acute kidney failure in cats, so it's best not to try it lightly.
5. Avocados contain a chemical toxin called "persin," which is very harmful to cats. It can cause digestive problems, breathing difficulties, and high fever; in large quantities, it can be fatal. However, commercially available avocado-based cat food is safe to eat, as these foods typically have the harmful substance removed.
6. Persimmons can cause intestinal obstruction or enteritis in cats.
7. The seeds of fruits such as peaches, plums, cherries, and apricots contain cyanide, which can cause cats to vomit, have difficulty breathing, or even experience intestinal obstruction.
