Cats can eat sweet potatoes, preferably cooked ones. Sweet potatoes are rich in various vitamins and minerals, providing cats with a variety of nutrients. They not only promote intestinal motility but also aid digestion and relieve constipation. It is recommended that cat owners feed their cats sweet potatoes once a week, as cats are carnivores and do not need to consume too many carbohydrates; their main diet should consist of cat food.
Precautions for feeding sweet potatoes to cats:
1. It is not recommended to feed cats raw sweet potatoes, as this can easily cause indigestion. It is better to cook the sweet potatoes thoroughly before feeding them to cats.
2. Feed your cat small, moderate amounts of sweet potatoes, once a week is sufficient. Because sweet potatoes are sticky, eating too much can easily cause tooth decay or tartar buildup, which is very detrimental to a cat's dental health.
3. You can steam sweet potatoes, mash them into a puree, and mix them into your cat's food to improve its texture.
