One week after treatment for feline panleukopenia, it's not advisable to get a new cat. It's generally recommended to wait six months before getting another cat, and continue disinfection for about three months to ensure the virus is completely eradicated. For disinfection, you can purchase disinfectant, dilute it with water, and use it to mop floors or wipe areas where the sick cat used to frequent. After each disinfection, ensure the room is well-ventilated. Discard any items used by the sick cat and replace them with new ones.
What are the specific symptoms of feline panleukopenia?
1. Kittens may suddenly develop a fever, sometimes exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, and may die within a few days. This is because kittens have very weak constitutions and immune systems.
2. For a six-month-old kitten, the fever will first subside, then rise again, and the fever will recur repeatedly.
3. In ordinary cats, symptoms of feline panleukopenia include loss of appetite, lethargy, vomiting, increased discharge from the eyes, nose, and throat, abnormal feces, and even diarrhea and abdominal pain.
