Even if you are scratched by a kitten, you still need to get a rabies vaccine. Cats, like dogs, can carry the rabies virus. If there is skin breakage or bleeding after a scratch, the rabies virus can enter the human body through the broken skin or mucous membranes, thus causing rabies infection.

It is recommended to get a rabies vaccination at the hospital as soon as possible after being scratched by a kitten to avoid adverse reactions. After being scratched by a kitten, the wound should be cleaned and disinfected immediately. Two doses of rabies vaccine should be administered on day 0, followed by one dose each on day 7 and day 21, for a total of four doses.
