How to treat fleas on a cat:
1. Spray lice-killing medicine
If your cat already has fleas, you can spray flea medication on its skin. Usually, about three applications will be effective. However, be careful to spray it in places that your cat cannot lick to avoid accidental ingestion and harm to its health.
2. Choose a lice comb
The teeth of the lice comb are hard and closely spaced, making it easy to comb out lice from a cat. After combing, immediately soak the comb in soapy water to prevent the lice from jumping away.
3. Regularly clean the cat's living environment.
Lice are very resilient, especially in summer, so owners should regularly vacuum the areas where their cats live, such as their cat's bed, floors, and carpets, as these are places where bacteria can easily grow.
Reasons why cats get fleas:
1. Contact with other animals carrying lice. Lice are external parasites, and cats need a source of infection to get lice. Cats that spend a lot of time outdoors are more susceptible to infection.
2. If a cat hasn't been dewormed for a long time, it creates a favorable environment for fleas to thrive. It's recommended to deworm your cat internally and externally once a month. Use pet-specific deworming medication.
3. If a cat hasn't been bathed for a long time, fleas will thrive in damp and unclean environments. Pay attention to your cat's hygiene and bathe it once a month.
4. If your cat is infested with fleas, you should deworm it immediately and pay attention to eliminating fleas from its environment. Otherwise, it is prone to repeated infections. It is recommended that owners regularly use disinfectants to thoroughly disinfect their home environment and their cat's belongings.
