The reasons why cats squat like hen are as follows:
1. Constipation may occur because cats are reluctant to defecate due to pain caused by hair buildup in the intestines, enteritis, or perianal injury.
2. Diarrhea may be caused by infection, inflammation, improper diet, or intestinal parasites. 
3. It could be due to a disease, such as feline infectious peritonitis, which can cause the proliferation of granulomatous tissue, thereby affecting the cat's nervous system function and leading to weakness in the cat's hind limbs.
4. It may be caused by a tumor, where the tumor tissue compresses the nerves in the lumbar spine, preventing the cat from controlling the movement of its hind limbs normally, thus causing these symptoms.
5. It may be caused by lumbar spine disease, which compresses the lumbar nerves. Squatting can relieve their pain.
6. It may be caused by urinary tract diseases, such as urinary tract infection, inflammation, and difficulty urinating. Male cats are more prone to urinary retention. If you find that your cat has urinary retention, take it to the vet for catheterization as soon as possible.
