When you discover ringworm on your cat's paws, first, confine the cat to prevent it from spreading the infection. Then, shave the fur around the affected area (it's recommended to shave the entire paw) for better observation. After that, use a cotton swab moistened with alcohol to clean and disinfect the affected area 2-3 times a day. After disinfection, prepare medication and spray it directly onto the affected area. It's recommended to spray the entire paw, or you can apply it directly with a cotton ball soaked in alcohol. A suitable spray is Piften.
Precautions for treating ringworm in cats:
1. Keep your home clean and disinfected regularly. Wipe down the cat cage, toys, and food bowl with disinfectant and mop the floor frequently to kill any remaining ringworm virus in the house.
2. Supplement your cat with fish oil and B vitamins to boost its immunity. Ringworm is common in kittens and is related to weakened immunity and vitamin deficiencies.
3. During the period when a cat has ringworm, letting the cat bask in the sun more often is beneficial to the recovery of the ringworm.
4. Ringworm is common in kittens and is prone to recurrence, so owners must be patient.
