Food restrictions for Burmese cats:
1. Burmese cats are carnivores. Meat and fish are high in phosphorus and contain rich animal protein, but eating only these foods can lead to calcium deficiency.
2. Do not feed Burmese cats spicy foods such as pepper, mustard, or chili oil.
3. Do not feed onions to Burmese cats, as onions can damage their red blood cells, causing anemia, which can lead to death in severe cases.
4. Do not feed chicken bones to Burmese cats, as this type of food is difficult to digest and may injure their stomach and intestines.
5. Do not give Burmese cats cow's milk. Cats cannot digest the lactose in cow's milk, so it may cause them stomach upset or diarrhea. Except for kittens drinking their mother's milk, it is not recommended to give cats cow's milk.
6. Do not feed Burmese cats grapes or raisins. Even small amounts of grapes or raisins can make a cat sick and may even cause acute kidney failure. Vomiting may occur within 12 hours of ingestion. Other symptoms may appear within 24 hours, including lethargy, diarrhea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and decreased urination.
7. Do not feed Burmese cats raw eggs or meat. Just like humans, cats may become infected with Salmonella or E. coli if they eat raw eggs or meat. Symptoms vary and may include vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy.
