Generally, an adult cat's heart beats about 120 to 180 times per minute, while a kitten's heart beats more times per minute than an adult cat's.



When a cat is in a comfortable and stable state, its heart rate will decrease; however, after strenuous exercise or being startled, a cat's heart rate will increase, but it can usually return to normal within a minute.

If a cat's heart rate remains consistently fast, it is very likely that the cat has a heart condition, and it is recommended to take it to a veterinary hospital for examination as soon as possible.
