Siamese cats' big eyes are what make them so adorable. How can we take good care of their eyes to keep them bright and lively for a long time?
Siamese cats have bright, clear eyes. Owners can regularly wipe away excess mucus around the corners of their cat's eyes with a damp cotton ball, and also clean the skin around the eyes. When a Siamese cat is sick or in poor health, it often becomes sensitive to light and cries. Crying can also be caused by blocked tear ducts due to illness. In such cases, eye care is necessary. Excessive crying can easily lead to eye discharge on the sides of the eyes and nose. Owners can simply use a cotton ball soaked in a 2% boric acid solution to gently wipe it away. However, if your cat is seriously ill, it is best to take it to a veterinarian for immediate treatment.
Because the eyes and ears communicate, if there's a problem with the ears, the eyes will quickly notice it, and vice versa. Therefore, the ears also need to be well cared for.
In addition to cleaning the ears, owners of Siamese cats should regularly check the cleanliness and health of their ear canals. Generally, owners can disinfect the outer ear canal with cotton balls soaked in 75% alcohol, then use a cotton swab dipped in olive oil or vegetable oil to moisten the dried earwax. After softening, carefully remove the earwax with tweezers, being careful not to break the ear canal membrane to prevent infection and suppuration. If the cat's outer ear canal becomes infected, gently clean it with a cotton swab dipped in hydrogen peroxide, repeating until no pus remains on the swab. Then, use absorbent cotton to remove the hydrogen peroxide from the ear canal. Repeating this process several times should help the condition improve. If the cat has excessive earwax and is shaking its head or scratching its ears, consult a veterinarian immediately.
When living with a cat, the most important thing is to always pay attention to its hygiene and health. We'd like to emphasize that giving your pet a healthy body is also a condition for protecting your own health and for a harmonious relationship between you and your pet.
