Cat vaccination schedule, timing, and price
The vaccination schedule for cats is as follows: the first feline triple vaccine is given at two months old, followed by the second feline triple vaccine 15-21 days later, and then the third rabies vaccine 15-21 days later.
cat's first vaccination
The cat needs two doses of the four-in-one vaccine and one rabies vaccine. Deworming can be done during the first vaccination. After the first vaccination, the cat needs two doses of the four-in-one vaccine and one rabies vaccine every year. Deworming can be done every six months if the cat doesn't go outside. The price is generally between 60 and 80.
Currently, apart from the 7-in-1 vaccine which costs 110 yuan per dose, all other vaccines on the market are priced at 60 yuan per dose (imported). Cats receive their first vaccination (feline triple vaccine) at 3 months of age, followed by a second dose at 20 weeks. After that, they are vaccinated annually.
Felines use fewer vaccines than dogs. Currently, the most commonly used vaccines administered to cats by pet hospitals in China include: imported feline triple vaccine, imported rabies vaccine, domestic rabies vaccine, and domestic feline panleukopenia vaccine.
Feline triple vaccine
The feline triple vaccine is an imported feline vaccine, an internationally recognized product, that prevents feline panleukopenia, feline calicivirus infection, and feline infectious rhinotracheitis. Immunization method: Cats over 2 months old require two doses (intramuscular injection), 2-3 weeks apart; thereafter, one dose is given annually. This vaccine has shown good clinical efficacy.
There are two types of rabies vaccines available: domestically produced and imported, used to prevent rabies. Cats over 3 months old can be vaccinated, and the protection period is one year, requiring annual vaccination. Clinically, both imported and domestically produced rabies vaccines are considered to be effective.
feline panleukopenia vaccine
The domestically produced feline panleukopenia vaccine is a pilot-scale research product that offers some protection against feline panleukopenia. It is an inactivated cell vaccine that can be administered to kittens aged 3-4 months. The initial vaccination should consist of two intramuscular injections, four weeks apart. Kittens older than four months should receive a single intramuscular injection, providing immunity for one year. Subsequent vaccinations should be given annually.
Cat vaccines are administered subcutaneously, so it's crucial to be extremely careful when vaccinating your cat. Always perform a physical examination first to ensure your cat is free of any other diseases. Only healthy cats should be vaccinated.
