While drinking mineral water over a long period may increase a cat's risk of developing urinary stones, this is usually not the primary cause. Mineral water contains a higher concentration of minerals, which can increase a cat's metabolic burden, thus increasing the likelihood of urinary stones.



However, the mineral content of mineral water is insufficient to cause urinary stones in cats. Urinary stones in cats are more often caused by insufficient exercise, inadequate water intake, urethral stricture, obesity, etc., with mineral water usually being only a minor contributing factor. Therefore, to reduce the probability of urinary stones in cats, it is recommended to feed them plain water or purified water regularly.
