Why do cats have red eye discharge?
If your cat starts to have a lot of discharge from its eyes, you should pay attention. Your cat has an eye problem and needs your help.
1. For ordinary red eye discharge, all the owner needs to do daily is clean the cat's eyes frequently, gently wiping away the discharge with warm water. No special treatment is required. If too much eye discharge accumulates, it will form a thick stain around the eyes, which is very difficult to clean. Therefore, it is recommended that owners clean their cat's eyes regularly. 
2. Cats with excessive internal heat: If cats eat too much oily and heavily seasoned food and don't drink enough water, they are prone to excessive internal heat, which can cause them to secrete a lot of eye discharge. In this case, in addition to cleaning their eyes regularly, it is also necessary to adjust the cat's diet.
Since eye discharge caused by internal heat is usually dry and hard, it is recommended that owners apply a diluted boric acid solution (be careful not to get it in the eyes) to moisten the discharge, making it easier for the discharge to fall off. Also, switch to a lighter diet for your cat, such as millet porridge, meat porridge, or rice soaked in fish soup. Make sure your cat drinks plenty of water and avoid feeding it foods containing additives and seasonings.
3. Eye inflammation: If a cat's eye discharge is impossible to wipe away and there is a lot of sticky or viscous secretion coming out of its eyes, even to the point of covering the cat's eyes, it indicates that the cat has some eye inflammation. This may be caused by eye irritation or by the eyes coming into contact with something unclean.
To treat this, you need to clean around the cat's eyes daily with saline solution, then apply Taichu cat eye drops. Continue this process daily until the eyes improve. Also, ensure the cat's diet is bland and provide it with a dark, comfortable environment to rest in.
