Cats adapt to new environments relatively slowly and are prone to stress. They may experience anxiety and depression due to their inability to adapt, and in severe cases, this can even be life-threatening. Therefore, before a new cat enters your home, owners must prepare a comfortable environment for the cat from the moment it arrives. 
The most important things for a cat after it arrives at its new home are its first taste of cat food and its first sip of water. Here are some things to keep in mind when your cat first comes to a new home:
1. First, you need to provide your cat with a quiet environment. Don't let children disturb it. When it first comes home, the cat is quite nervous, and playing with children will only make it more alert. A quiet environment will allow it to relax and eat with peace of mind.
2. Check the cat's food and water every two hours to see if it's eating and drinking properly and if its bowel movements are normal. After checking, remember to play with your cat for a while, bring some treats and toys, and interact with it to strengthen your bond.
3. Place some catnip and scratching posts or other toys in the cat's play area. If possible, bring some of its usual belongings from its previous place so the cat can quickly become familiar with them.
4. If the animal hasn't eaten or drunk anything all day after returning home, you should take it seriously and contact its previous owner or take it to the vet as soon as possible.
5. Please do not bathe it within one month. Its immune system is easily weakened. Please wait until the cat has adapted to its new environment before giving it a proper bath.
6. Please do not change your cat's food within one month. Cats are generally picky eaters, so don't change their food in a new environment, otherwise they may refuse to eat. Wait until they are settled before gradually changing their food.
