If you were asked to list some common cat breeds, everyone would be able to name shorthaired cats and Siamese cats, but if you were asked what a Shimlik cat is, probably not many people would know, right? Some studies have found that Shimlik cats are related to the Isle of Man cat!
The name "Shimlik cat" comes from the Celtic English word. It is a long-haired breed of the tailless Manx, hence its other name, the long-haired Manx cat. In 1960, a purebred short-haired Manx cat in Canada suddenly gave birth to the first Shimlik kitten. Due to the recessive long-haired gene, mating two Shimlik cats will result in offspring that are 100% Shimlik in origin. 
However, inbreeding between tailless cats can produce lethal factors, so in the breeding of tailless Shimchoke cats, cats with straight tails or tailless cats are often used as crossbreeding parents.
The Shimlik cat is medium-sized with a robust frame and well-developed muscles. It has a round head and strong, muscular chest and rump. Because its hind legs are slightly longer than its forelegs, it walks with a hopping gait, similar to the Manx cat. The Shimlik has a double coat, with a medium-length undercoat consisting of an undercoat and a protective outer coat. Newborn kittens are almost indistinguishable from Manx cats, but after 3-4 weeks, the Shimlik's undercoat grows rapidly, and the long tuft of hair on its ears becomes noticeably different from that of the Manx cat. Shimlik cats come in a wide variety of colors, with over 30 recognized colors.
As a branch of the Isle of Man cat, the Heyman cat inherits the characteristics of the Isle of Man. The most distinctive feature of the Isle of Man is its tailless or short tail, followed by a round head, round muzzle, round eyes, round ears, a small and pointed face, a slender oriental body, a pointed muzzle, long, silky single-layered fur, a slender waist, and thin hips. Because of its well-developed limbs and unique gait resembling a rabbit's leap, it is also known as the "rabbit cat." The Isle of Man originated on the Isle of Man, between Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and has a long history. As early as 1901, there was a Isle of Man Cat Club in Britain, and it is said that King Edward VII kept several Isle of Man cats. Heyman cats are gentle, intelligent, easy to train, and adept at climbing trees. They are also one of the most active cat breeds, able to fetch toys like dogs.

Somewhat rabbit-like in appearance, their short spines give their bodies an arched shape when viewed from the side. Their hind legs are longer than their forelegs, and their hips are higher than their shoulders. Their fur is soft and fluffy, like cotton, and they have strong bones and well-developed muscles. Their fur is mostly short, and their coat colors are incredibly diverse, including solid colors, bicolors, tabby stripes, and more. Most notably, they walk with remarkable lightness and a hopping gait, displaying an exceptionally good sense of balance that leaves a lasting impression.
